In field: Muhammad ra- / sul Allah / sanat tis‘a / wa tisa‘in / bin Muslim. In margin: ‘amr bihi Sulayman amir al-mu’minin, Hayyan ibn Shurayh, Qudama (?).
Flat circular base.
The text can be translated as follows: "Muhammad is the Messenger of God. In the year nine and ninety. Ordered by Sulayman, Commander of the Faithful, Hayyan b. Shurayh, [and] Qudama b. Muslim." It is difficult to say with certainty the purpose of this incredible object, but its reverse side, with a perfectly round circular base in relief indicates that it was most likely to be placed on a surface that was intended for it. Is it a seal? In any case, this monoecious object, heavily concretioned, appears to be of the utmost rarity.
