Cohen 7; RIC 59; Sear 15051 Coin struck on an irregular and off centred flan with most of it's details remaining and covered by a homogenous dark patina. Marcus Aurelius Valerius Romulus (295-309), son of Maxentius and grandson of Maximian Herculius, was quickly groomed by his father to succeed him. In 307, he was appointed clarissimus puer (son of the senatorial order) and then nobilissimus vir (most noble person), and was granted the consulship for the years 308 and 309 alongside his father. His death in 309 brought an end to his father's political ambitions. He was soon deified, and a temple was erected in his honor on the Sacred Way.
