{"product_id":"981908-louis-xv-dor-aux-lunettes-1732-paris-tresor-rue-mouffetard","title":"France, Louis XV, Louis d'or aux lunettes, 1732, Paris, Pedigree, Gold","description":"\u003cp id=\"head\"\u003eDraped bust of a young Louis XV, left.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp id=\"reverse\"\u003eOval coats of arms of France on the left and Navarre on the right, beneath a crown; mint letter below.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp id=\"comment\"\u003eThis Louis d'or from the reign of Louis XV comes from the \"Trésor de la rue Mouffetard\" (Rue Mouffetard Hoard), discovered at No. 53 on the street of the same name in Paris on May 24, 1938. \n\nComprising more than 3,500 gold coins minted during the reign of Louis XV, the hoard was divided among the discoverers, the City of Paris, and the various heirs of Louis Nivelle, a significant portion of whose will was found alongside the coins. \n\nAmong these coins, more than 3,200 are Louis d’or, and the majority are of \"aux lunettes\" or “au bandeau” types.\n\nSeveral auctions featuring coins from this treasure took place over the decades following the discovery. Etienne Bourgey notably conducted several auctions, including two in the 1950s and one in the 1970s.
