Our example is well preserved, but shows some traces of circulation.\n\nIn 1435, France signed a treaty with the Duchy of Burgundy, which controlled most of the mints that produced the Saluts d'Or. The following year, 20 years before the end of the Hundred Years' War, France gradually reconquered its territory, retaking Paris in 1436, whose mint ceased to strike coins for Henry VI.\n\nHenry VI of Lancaster, who became King of France and England at just one year of age in 1422, was the grandson of French King Charles VI. His reign in France was rivaled by that of Charles VII, and ended in 1453 with England's final defeat in the Hundred Years' War.
