Our example has a perfectly visible legend and a beautiful strike, despite some weaknesses in certain details. The flan is almost imperceptibly veiled, with a scratch on the reverse running from the A in IMPERAT to the center of the cross. This Salut d'or is nevertheless in superb condition and is very pleasing to the eye!\n\nThe mints that struck the Saluts d'Or were mainly under the control of the Duke of Burgundy, Philippe the Good. Following the treaty signed between the Duchy and France in 1435, they no longer minted coins for the English sovereign. In the final years of the Hundred Years' War, the other mints returned to French influence; Rouen was the last mint to strike coins for Henry VI.\n\nHenri VI of Lancaster became King of France in 1422, at just one year of age. Grandson of Charles VI, King of France, from whom he inherited his fits of madness, he was also King of England. His reign in France was rivaled by that of Charles VII, and ended in 1453 with the final defeat of England in the Hundred Years' War. He reigned on the English throne until 1468, then a second time between 1470 and 1471, the year of his death.
