Two varieties are possible for this issue, with the legend around the coin and only \"AVG III\" in the exergue, or like this example, with the whole legend inscribed in the exergue. The coin here represents one of the prince's virtues, the 'liberalitas', i.e. his ability to distribute goods, usually money, to the people. The aureus has a matt aspect, but there is a slight remnant of mint lustre in the curule seat on the reverse.
