This tetradrachm has a wide flan and a slight striking weakness on the wreath, on the lower right part. The specimen has a beautiful light grey patina. \n\nPozzi 2302 with a variety: the cup is under the horse and not under the foreleg. We note the specificity in the inscription of the magistrate's name. On the reverse with the cup under the leg, the final S (sigma) is a Σ whereas on this reverse, the sigma is a Ϲ (lunar sigma). Although a number of similar examples can be found in sales, here we have a small engraving error that is an interesting numismatic curiosity. \n\nBMC 80-1; Boston MFA 1651; Pozzi 2302var and De Luynes 2524.
