The flan is perfectly centered and features a beautiful grain ear on each side. The grain ear is the symbol of the city, illustrating their great prosperity thanks to agriculture, and is also a reminder of the importance of the goddess Demeter to them. \nParticular features of our stater are the die breaks on the obverse at the M and on the awns on the right, and the strike weakness on the top of the grain on the reverse. The same features can be found on a stater offered for sale by Heritage Auctions on October 28, 2020, allowing us to say that our two specimens were struck by a specific pair of dies. However, Noe, in his work dating from 1927, does not seem to reference the dies of our coin.\n\nAn interesting coin with a specific type rarely seen on sale. A must-have! \nHN Italy 1282-1283 and HGC 1, 1028.
