On the obverse, the lower part of the Sun King's bust is still visible, as are the engraver's distinctive marks. The reverse is well reformed, with the sole exception of a lis from the old flan still visible in the right part of the crown and a part of one of the crowns in the shield at the level of the lowest lis. Some of the old coin's legends can still be seen on both sides, including the date, which is clearly visible at 10 o'clock on the reverse.
