Beautiful restrike of a Constantius Gallus follis, an extremely rare case of monetary production. This one has been restriked on what appears to be another issue from the same period, with a standing soldier holding a military ensign with the Chi-Rho in his right hand in front of him. His torso and the ensign itself are still clearly distinguishable, as the coin circulated for only a short time. However, this is the only information we can find as the restrike erased other informations. Under Louis XIV, it was a common practice during the reign to change the designs on coins, and we can assume that it was necessary to change the ruler on the coin so that the portrait of Constantius Gallus could be applied instead.

4.16 gr

https://www.numiscorner.com/products/1279852-constantius-gallus-follis-352-355-aquileia-restrike-bronze-au-55-58
