Light weight. Same dies and graffiti as Roma Sale 101, lot 1529.\n\nThis type was produced around 439 following the treaty between the Visigoths and the imperial authorities that settled them in southern France. It imitates Ravenna types, reproducing the reverse design featuring a human head with a serpentine appearance. The presence of a crescent above the imperial portrait confirms its Visigothic origin.\n\nRIC X 3715 (uncertain mint in Gaul); DOC 844 (Ravenna); cf. Lacam pl.
