A superb late-Republican denarius struck by Aulus Plautius, probably an ancestor of one of Claudius' generals who led the conquest of Britain.
Minted around 55 BC, it is an excellent example of how monetaries represent their achievements on coins, as it shows Cybele on the observe, of whom A. Plautius, as curule, was in charge of the organisation of the games in her honour, the "Megalesia".
On the reverse, we see a camel as well as a kneeling figure and "IVADEVS", representing the submission of Judea, a feat of arms of A. Plautius having been commander of a military corps in Pompey's army, winner of Aristobulus, Jewish High Priest in 63 BC. This is one of the first representations of Judea on Roman coins that we know of.

A·PLAVTIVS AED·CVR·S·C

BACCHIVS IVDAEVS

4.3 gr

https://www.numiscorner.com/products/1172601-coin-plautia-denarius-55-bc-rome-au-55-58-silver-crawford-431-1
